A regular sport the last few years at ASB Stadium, played indoors during the winter season, Ultimate is a non-contact team sport played with a flying disc (Frisbee) between 2 teams of 4 players.
The object of the game is to pass the disc from player to player and have one of their team-mate’s catch the flying disc in their opponent’s end zone for a goal worth 1 point.
There is a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play as there are no referees - the players referee themselves.
It is played on a Wednesday from May to August in the ASB Stadium.
The league has grown in the last few years to 24 teams in 2009.
Three Games are played at once on the basketball courts, with the keyhole representing the end zone.
Some of the teams include New Zealand representative players.
Outdoor Ultimate (pick-up) is played Sunday afternoons year round - check our website for details. Anyone is welcome to come along and have a run around as Ultimate Frisbee is a game for everybody.
All you need is enthusiasm!
